Moments ago, a federal judge in Minnesota denied the state's emergency request for an end to Operation Metro Surge.

That's the federal government's immigration operation in the Minneapolis-St. Paul

region. The U.S. District Judge Catherine Menendez denied a preliminary injunction in the case,

which would have immediately halted federal action in the city, but she says that this is not,

quote, a final determination on the merits of any claims. Also, just happened in San Antonio.

A federal judge has ordered the release of

five-year-old Liam Ramos and his father from federal detention. That's according to the San Antonio

Express News. These developments are coming at a particularly fraught time for the fight for America

that is taking place right now on the streets of Minneapolis. The Trump administration

crossed a line yesterday when two

independent journalists, Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, were arrested by federal authorities in connection

with their work covering a protest that disrupted a church service in Minnesota earlier this month.

Both were charged with two counts of criminal conspiracy related to interfering with the rights

to exercise religious freedom.

Don Lemon is a longtime journalist whom Trump has publicly ridiculed for years. Fort, who was working

as Lemons producer on the day of the protest, serves as the vice president of the Minnesota

chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. Both were released from custody yesterday.
