In general, there are three types of layers in cults, though each of these might have various levels or ranks within it. Those are the "Outer School" of initiates who are committed to the cult but don't yet understand it, the "Inner School" of adepts who are deeply committed to the cult and do understand it, and the "Inner Circles" of disciples and leaders who are leading and guiding the cult whether they believe its doctrine or not. Until you understand the structure of cults, you will consistently underestimate and misdiagnose "Wokeness" because you'll mistake the behavior of the Outer School initiates as being characteristic of the cult, which it is not. 0:31.0	about the structure of cults. There's kind of a big debate while I'm sitting here recording this,
0:36.5	what is woke? And I guess I could do a podcast, I could do a bullet on what does what's the definition
0:41.7	of woke? Short answer, it's critical consciousness. That's it. That's it. I know it's a big word. What does
0:47.2	that mean? It means that you see that there are so-called dehumanizing forms like systemic racism,
0:53.6	sexism, you see the structural nature of reality as they put it. In other words, that our lives
0:58.4	are actually determined and contoured by systemic racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism,
1:05.7	all the rest of those systemic power dynamics, and that those are bad and that you're going to call
1:10.7	them out, okay? That's what critical consciousness means. That's what it means to be woke. It means
1:15.6	that you understand that the world is organized according to those. It means that you understand
1:20.3	yourself to be an agent in history who can change history and you understand that you have a
1:25.4	moral and ethical obligation to call out or denounce every aspect of those so-called dehumanizing
1:32.8	forms that they exist. That's all it means. It's critical consciousness. It's not more complicated.
1:36.8	It's not vague. It's not complicated. It's not anything else. It's very specific. So in like a minute,
1:42.6	a minute and a quarter, we can define woke very accurately. I suggest you practice. But that's not
1:48.4	what this podcast is about. What this podcast is about is the structure of cult because what we're
1:53.6	seeing also, and this is a question that comes up a lot, but it's also a thing that people are
1:57.6	saying a lot around that debate. What is woke? What they're saying is, well, your average trans person
