Welcome to episode 152 of Real Cool History for Kids. This episode is for Olivia Geistbrecht, who wanted to hear the story of King Tutankhamen, also

known as King Tut.

Have you ever dreamed of discovering a hidden treasure?

Perhaps one that had been buried for thousands of years.

That's exactly what happened in 1922 when an archaeologist named Howard Carter uncovered the

tomb of an ancient pharaoh, a boy king named Tutankhamun. This incredible discovery amazed the world, and it gave us a

glimpse into the life of one of Egypt's most famous rulers. But who was King Tut? Why is his tomb so

important? And what secrets did it hold?

Well, to find out the answers to these questions, let's start at the beginning of King Tutankhamun's

story. King Tut, as we call him today, was a pharaoh of Egypt during the 18th dynasty, more than 3,300

years ago.

He was only nine years old when he became king.

King Tut was born during a time of great change in Egypt.

His father, Pharaoh Akhenaten, had introduced a new religion that just focused on one

pagan god, the sun god. This was very different from the traditional Egyptian belief in many

gods. When Akhenaten died, Egypt was in turmoil. The people wanted to return to their old ways,

and young Tutankhamen became the leader

who would restore Egypt's traditions. Because he was so young, King Tut had many advisors to

help him rule, and two of his most important advisors were I, spelled A-Y, who later became Pharaoh, and General Horemheb, who led the army.

Under their guidance, Tutankhamun restored the old Egyptian gods and brought stability back to Egypt.

As Pharaoh, King Tut lived in in a grand palace filled with luxury.
