The All right, so today we're going to cover the stomach.

But I thought what we could begin with is a story about the stomach.

So just bear with me. I'm bringing the book over to read part of it.

In the beginning.

So before 1822, the understanding, the medical understanding,

physiological understanding of what the stomach did was it was a vat, a stew pot.

It putrified our food, rotted our food, and somehow we then absorbed it. It wasn't known at

this point that the stomach actually performed digestive functions. What's this 1822?

Well, this is where it all changed, Michael.

So in Michigan, there was a man known as Alexis St. Martin.

So he was a French-Canadian trapper,

which I guess is a person who used to trap animals.

Hopefully, animals.

Yeah.

And maybe sell their furs.
