But how are you doing today?

Yeah, very, very good, working hard and focus is always on what Russia's up to and China and one or two other hostile

authoritarian states. Yeah I think today was a big day in the you know Israel Gaza

conflict and what we might we might such a matter a little bit as well but we start each one of our shows by walking us through the arc having our guests walkers through the

arc of their careers and talk us through your career with the British

Intelligence Agency, the MI6, and talk to us as much as you can about the work you do now

Yeah, so I joined the British government foreign service after straight out of university at the age of 22.

And I went to my first posting, which was Moscow, when I was 25 in 1990. So I was there in fact when the Soviet Union

collapsed and I saw that all rolled out in front of me, which was fairly amazing.

I then spend some time back in London looking at Russia

and then went off to Paris for four years.

I was there in the embassy, British Embassy in Paris from 98 2002, came back and worked on

Russia again and then was involved in the Lippinenko investigation in 2006, 7.
