home front. I'm your host, Reid Galen. Well, guys, I'm coming to you today solo to discuss

the speech last night, the president's state of the union address.

And among all other things, I would say that it was a very good illustration of the state of our union.

We had boycotts. We had spectacle. We had stunt casting. We had anger. We had lies. We had all of it that has come to

define the Trumpocene era. That it is a fundamental lack of seriousness with an undertone of incredible

gravity, which is we have a man in the White House

who cares not at all for any of this, really,

but does love to be center stage

and is exceedingly good at doing what he does,

even if what he does is irretrievably bad

for you and me, for the country, and ultimately for the

world. There's this expression I've been using for a long, long time that Democrats play chess

and Donald Trump eats the pieces. And by the end of that speech last night, Donald Trump must

have been full of chess pieces because he ate every last one of them off the board.

The idea of everything he did, getting Democrats to stand up, getting Democrats to sit down, calling out the victims of crime, calling out the U.S. hockey team,

everything he could do so he could point to Democrats and say, see, I told you, see, I told you.

And the Democrats, look, I don't know what to say.
