Hi, this is Josh Marshall, and this is the Josh Marshall podcast.

So, if you're of a certain age, right?

If you're, if you're, if you're Gen X, if you're, I guess, if you're, if you're a boomer,

you know, if you're people who remember the Cold War, this has been a pretty weird week.

It hasn't been a fun week, right?

We're a week into this thing, which is a major land war in Europe, which is what

we managed to avoid for the four plus decades of the Cold War, and then since the end of

the Cold War.

But now we are right in it, and it's pretty scary.

It's pretty scary on a few levels.

You know, hopefully this winds down at some point in the not too distant future.

When I say winds down, I mean, active hostilities end, and there's various ways we can imagine

that happening.

One is that the Russians just decide that they screwed up, and, and, you know, maybe find some

kind of face-saving way to pull back, or maybe they pull back and hope they're going to hold

on to Crimea and those two, you know, kind of provinces in the east, but basically, all right,

we screwed up and who knows what that means for Vladimir Putin, but that's one possibility.
