Today, I have the distinct honor of having on with me, His Excellency, Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas.

I want to talk to you today about three important issues, and I think we'll have at least some time of varying length for each of the three issues.

But first, first issue,

everyone wants me to ask you this question. What was it like? What was it like growing up as a

Halloween birthday kid to have a birthday on Halloween? I thought about this all throughout my

childhood and I just noticed preparing for this that that was you yeah well it

was great everybody celebrated my birthday and uh growing up in a very non-catholic area I mean it

wasn't like people were saying oh eve of all saints I mean we knew that but most of my friends had no

idea it was just Halloween and candy um so it was good um

lots of Halloween parties that's great yeah but people celebrate my birthday by by me a present

and coming over and eating cake they celebrated your birthday by getting together getting eating candy

and celebrating monsters. So

that had to be something else. I said, oh, by the way, it's his birthday too. Yeah.

Right. Right. It's just an afterthought. It's tacked on. Okay, no. More seriously, I, I, there's,

you've been all over the news cycle lately. You've already been a hero of mine.

I thought we would just start out with the most secondary issue, the most ancillary because it's passed with the turning of the leaves here in fall.

That was the issue of the summer, Black Lives Matter.

You called it around midsummer, early to midsummer, you called it dangerous. I called it a terrorist movement and was actually removed from my job in the Diocese of Fresno for so doing. Both of us have been vindicated with the events of the middle and late summer, haven't we?
