June is around the corner. It not only means the start of summer, but the end of the Supreme Court's term.

And with it, the Court's decisions in its most high-profile, high-stakes cases,

that's the what of the Court's work, but how does the court decide its cases today? The court's six to

three majority of Republican appointed justices has decided several landmark cases in a conservative

direction in recent years. Most notably, it overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, which ended the

constitutional right to abortion. Other recent decisions weakened enforcement of the

Voting Rights Act and removed the discretion of federal agencies to create regulations. The Supreme Court

this week hears oral arguments for a case on birthright citizenship. What forms the basis of many of

the Supreme Court's opinions, especially when it comes to the most politically contentious cases. One new book tries to answer that question. I'm Jen White. You're listening
