Hello and welcome to the Apple Insider podcast. This is your host, Steven Robles and I'm excited

0:08.7

today to have a very special guest, Nicholas Delayon, who I have known for some time now

0:14.3

and actually get to interview him here for the show. So, Nicholas, thanks for coming

0:18.7

on the show, man.

0:19.7

Yes, Steven, my pleasure. We have known each other for quite a while. I believe we were

0:25.4

man, maybe six or seven years old. We were young kids when we, uh, I think so. We moved

0:29.8

upstate New York and I think we were in kindergarten or first grade together. One of those went to

0:34.2

the same school for a minute, but it's been a long time and it's funny. I mean, we haven't

0:38.8

talked in a long time and you've been involved in technology in various places and I've been

0:43.5

involved here on Apple Insider and other places. So it's just funny now our past gets

0:47.5

across again. So it's, yeah, it's open to talk to you. So tell me like, what is your current

0:51.7

gig right now? I know you're at consumer reports. So what do you do there? Yes, my titles

0:55.6

technically, I'm a senior reporter at consumer reports. I've been here for about three years,

1:00.4

three years in change. I've kind of been all over the sort of tech blogging world. My

1:04.7

first gig was at Gizmodo basically as an intern. This is like 2006-ish 2007. And there's

1:10.1

a tech crunch for a couple years. Uh, I worked at news corp, uh, the daily, I don't know

1:14.9

if anyone in the audience remembers that iPad news app. Yeah. I was there for about two

1:19.3

years. Uh, and then I did a startup called Circa, kind of like mobile news thing. Then it

1:24.3

was at vice for a few years. Now I'm at consumer reports. Uh, my main beats are laptops,

1:29.7

uh, wireless routers and tablets. Uh, I say, I, I almost like whisper tablets because there's

1:35.6

not a ton of tablet news generally. It's pretty much the iPad, uh, the Amazon tablets and, and

1:41.9

maybe the Samsung ones, but it's, it's a smaller category. Right. Well, that, that's so interesting.
