Summary

Without a proper understanding of God's Word and how to apply it, we make the mistake of thinking that He contradicts Himself. One example is the difference between a believer's stance in Christ and his state. Our stance before God as righteous and holy was settled when we accepted Jesus Christ; however, our state refers to the lifelong process of God continually working in us during our journey. We aren't what we do; God has already declared us His children, regardless of our behavior. God chose us as His beloved even before the foundation of the earth, and our state can never change our stance; this is something to thank and praise Him for.

1:05.6	I think it's important to deal with contradictions because I believe within it, you find

1:11.8	and more understanding. And so I want to deal with a contradiction this morning between what I call
1:23.6	the stance of a Christian versus the state of a Christian.
1:35.3	The stance that you have before God and the state of your actual life.
1:50.5	And I want to look at that.
1:52.3	And the definition that I'll be teaching from is, you know,
1:57.9	I know that we've defined grace over the years as unmerited favor.
2:02.1	That is absolutely right, but you've got to know it's just so much more involved in it.
2:07.6	That first of all, gracing is Jesus. He's a person, amen?
2:11.6	Grace is not just a curriculum. Grace is not just a subject matter.
2:16.6	Grace is a person, Jesus, full of grace and truth.
2:20.3	But grace is unmerited. It's unmerited abounding provision.
