I'm Mitch Album of the Detroit Free Press, and we welcome you to this edition of the Sports

Reporters podcast, the podcast incarnation of the long-running Sunday morning TV show.

And, boy, we've done a lot of shows together, on television on Sunday mornings and hundreds of shows

here now on the podcast but this has got to be the first one where we're talking about

seasons being canceled events being run literally like ghost towns with just the players involved

and all because of a global pandemic that just a few weeks or a month or so ago

wasn't even figuring into the conversation of sports, and then began to creep into it with

some cancellations of things far away, like in Italy.

And we were still talking about, wow, did you see in Italy?

They're going to have games without fans.

And then what seemed to be a slamming of the foot on the accelerator pedal, in the last 48 hours,

we have seen almost every pillar of major American sports affected by this to the point that the NBA season, thanks to an infected, at least one known

case of an infected player on the Utah Jazz, Rudy Gobert, has suspended its entire season

and told all the teams who have played against the Jazz in recent games.

I think it's six teams, Mitch.

Yeah, to self-quarantine.

And this is just the beginning of a lot of other ripples.

Lots to unpack on this today.
