Summary

Dreams have always felt like a locked door to me, a part of my inner world I couldn't quite access. My conversation with dream scientist Dr. Bonnie Buckner changed that. We explore how your sleeping brain is a creative powerhouse, how nightmares are actually trapped energy, and how she literally moved to France because of a dream. This is about listening to the most intimate conversation you have with yourself.

I've never really thought of myself as a creative person because I always thought creativity meant

0:05.5

you were good at art or sculpture or painting or whatever it is. And I felt like maybe I was creatively

0:13.3

blocked in some way. Most of us to unblock our creativity try things like journaling, meditation, maybe walking, and all of

0:24.1

these are tools that can access our own inner wisdom.

0:27.5

But there's also a tool that we typically completely ignore, and it's available to you tonight,

0:36.2

your dreams.

0:38.4

Now, I know you might be like me, and sometimes you don't remember dreams, which has definitely

0:44.3

been a struggle for me and something that I've been working on.

0:46.9

Or maybe you don't understand your dreams and you try to decode them.

0:50.7

I love chat GPT to try to decode dreams.

But today's episode with Dr. Bonnie Buckner tells me we should be looking at dreams in another way. She moved across the ocean, literally

1:05.8

across the ocean for a dream that she had. Not a mystical premonition, but a dream in which she was able to work

1:14.0

with actively to create this life that she didn't even know she wanted to live. Bonnie is a

1:21.5

Hollywood film producer and she spent decades studying the most powerful creative engine you know, your sleeping brain.

1:30.4

Turns out the brain uses more energy when you're dreaming than almost any other time.

1:35.9

This isn't downtime.

1:37.6

This is the time when your brain is creating solutions to your everyday problems.

1:43.2

Bonnie is going to teach us today how to actually listen to our

1:47.3

dreams and how to understand those tiny fragments into clear signals. Even your nightmares,

1:56.3

Bonnie believes, is your trapped energy waiting to be unlocked. I even share a little bit of a dream I

2:04.4

just had so you can better understand how this all works and also better understand a little more

2:11.1

about me. And with that, I bring you today's episode of Life, Death, and the Space Between
