Today we're going to talk about the spirit of offense, what it really is, how it works, and how to break free from it.

Because even though offense will come, it doesn't have to stay.

And the truth is, some of the most spiritually bound people I've ever meant aren't stuck in sin.

They are stuck in offense. And maybe that's you.

On the outside, you're functioning, you're moving

through life, you pray, you go to church, all of the things. But internally, you are carrying

something heavy that has just quietly shaped the way you think, the way you relate to people,

and even the way you see God. And maybe you don't even realize that the source of this burden is offense. Because a lot of the

time, offense rarely feels like a problem, right? Usually it feels justified. I have a right to feel this way.

It's their fault. And so you're just responding normally to something unfair that happened to you because this is

a matter of self-respect, right? Or at least that's what we tell ourselves at least. And then before you

know it, what you think is just a matter of self-respect is actually a matter of self-deception.

And it is why so many people never realize just how deeply

offense is actually controlling them because the thing about offense is that it convinces you

you're protecting yourself when it's actually imprisoning you.

And I say that as someone who has been there.

I used to have this kind of pompous posture, actually, of, well, then I'm just not going to let anything bother me so that I never get offended at all.

But what I've come to realize as a Christian is that offense is inevitable.

Why?

Because I'm human.

And guess what?

So are you?
