I always feel like we're right on that razor's edge between, you know, kind of the demons of our greed and aggression and the angels of our better nature, our ability to understand, our ability to see the future and act on it, our ability to see each other and act on that empathetic connection.

You know, we have both of those things.

Mary Ann Williamson here and welcome to the podcast. We have a very, very special guest today, director and explorer James Cameron. I was pretty universally mocked and teased during my presidential campaign for tweets that I had written back when the avatar movie first came out in

2009. I said that I thought that if Western civilization survives, it will be because enough

people have seen and understood the avatar movies. I said that if you really wanted to understand

what's going on in America today, you would watch the Avatar movie because it gives you the truth and the whole truth and nothing

but the truth.

And actually, it's interesting because in preparing for my interview, watching it several

more times, if anything, I'm even more enthused and even more convinced of the fundamental and powerful

and relevant truth-telling of Avatar.

The most sophisticated thinking there is, and nobody doubts the sophistication of the technological

genius of Jim Cameron.

Remember what this man has accomplished.

He wrote and directed the Titanic and True Lies in the Abyss and Terminator movies

and even co-wrote one of the Rambo movies.

So we all know he's an extraordinary director.

And we also know because of Titanic, because of Avatar, etc.

We know the amazing technological genius and the fact that he has, I don't know if you know

this, I did not know all of this before I began reading about him more.

I knew that he was an explorer, but I didn't know that he had been

by himself to the bottom of the ocean. He had gone almost seven miles down by himself in 2012,
