Around 5 pm in Mashhad, the holiest city in Iran, most Muslims were

getting ready for the evening called a prayer. But in this particular night in July 2000,

38-year-old Saeed Hanoi did not join his family at the sound of the adon.

Instead, he was in his house, pacing around a woman named Afsaneh.

It had been easy for Saeed to find Afsaneh, a 30-year-old sex worker and

convinced her to come back to his house. It took a while to haggle a price but Saeed

gave in quickly. He didn't plan on paying anyway.

Once they arrived, the two made small talk while Afsaneh admired his house.

She turned away from Saeed for a moment to take a closer look at some of his wife's

ceramic flowers hanging on the wall. That was when Saeed struck.

Saeed grabbed off Saeed from behind and threw her on the floor, using his knee to pin

her to the ground. He closed his hands around her neck but couldn't get a good grip,

so he flipped her onto her back where he could see the terror in her eyes.

Saeed grabbed off Saeed's scarf and wrapped it around her neck, squeezing tightly.

At first, Afsaneh struggled under his weight, trying to escape.

But after a couple of minutes, she went still. Dead.

Saeed stood up, wiping his hands on his pants content.

Thanks to him, there was one less corrupt woman roaming the streets,

and he was just beginning.
