Hello and welcome to The Spectator podcast. I'm Lara Prendergast.

So, Laurie is backing up in Kent, a Mars bar shortage and no more Roman city breaks.

0:28.1

These are just some of the things that we've been warned might happen if we get to a no-deal Brexit.

0:32.8

But what will actually happen? I speak to two people who somewhat disagree.

0:38.7

Plus, we also look at whether China is a greater force to be reckoned with than Russia. And finally, we look at why the British

0:43.7

are obsessed with aristocratic sex scandals. There are plenty of mixed messages thrown around when it

1:36.3

Now we know preparations are being made. All the fears relate either to the belief that we will stop things coming into the country, which is absurd.

1:50.8

they have at present because they only check lorries to look for illegal contraband, cigarettes,

1:56.7

drink, which has paid duty drugs and illegal immigrants, and the risk of that will not change.

2:02.6

But the whole thesis, therefore, was that there'd be problems in Calais, which were back up

2:08.6

across the channel. That was blown apart yesterday by the president of the Calais and Boulogne ports,

who said on the Today program to their obvious annoyance,
