Welcome to the Spawn Shunks, episode number 401 for Monday, May 11th, 2026.

0:11.5

This is a podcast all about Minecraft. It's available across all major podcast platforms,

0:15.9

including a video version that goes out on YouTube and Spotify. And if you're enjoying the show,

0:20.4

please consider subscribing wherever you're listening to this. My name is Johnny, but the internet knows me as Pixariffs. And joining me from the land of food is Joel Duggan. Hi, Joel. I am mostly pizza at this point. It is a dangerous thing that I now know how to make my own homemade pizza, but it's been fun. And that's what we've been talking about in the render distance. This is the pre-show we do every single week for folks that have just joined us recently for episode 400. We released the render distance to everybody just to kind of give a taste as to what's behind the scenes. But we do this every single week. We talk about how our weekends have gone. We talk about things like movies or films or hobbies. In this case,

0:55.7

it was Johnny's gardening, which is starting to get into full till over the weekend with the new

1:00.8

weather happening in the UK. We have not yet really experienced spring here in Nova Scotia,

1:06.1

but I have some basil on the window and I'm making bread and pizza. So all of that is the kind of stuff you can expect in the renders distance. We also over the weekend recorded our quarterly hangout, which is where Johnny and I talk about the downloads and the YouTube metrics and the behind the scenes and future guest ideas and things like that about the podcast. And that's available to our patrons on the Patreon page. If that's something that interests you, then by supporting the sponge chunks you get access to, not just the render distance, but other monthly bonus content like the Hangout, which we do every month, and then the quarterly, which we do every three months, to talk about things behind the scenes. Speaking of joining the Patreon, we have a special because of the celebration of episode 400.

It may come as a surprise to those of you who watched episode 400 where we spent three

1:57.2

hours answering listener emails that we have even more listener email driving the discussion. This isn't even a chunk mail dispenser, but we got some really good emails in the hopper that we wanted to discuss with you. So one of those is going to take our main discussion this week. Before that, of course, we're going to do our quick login when we talk about what's new in our Minecraft lives. And we've also got some news about the latest snapshot after which Chaos Cubed should be feature complete.

2:18.3

So excited to talk about all of that as the show continues.

2:21.3

But to begin with, let's talk about what's new in our Minecraft lives.

2:24.3

Joel, kick us off with what's new from the Citadel.

2:27.3

So I've been spending the week in the Landing Bay.

2:31.3

This is actually taking a lot longer than I anticipated because of the

2:34.9

variety of designs I'm trying out so there's four outside walls they're angled

2:40.9

so they are at the 45 degree angle of the octagonal shape the flat shapes which are

2:46.7

the easy things of design are the doors and so they're mostly open space. So there's not as much

2:51.6

decorating there as you would think. So with these sides, the main feature in each side of the

2:58.9

octagon is the elevator where you arrive. And then there's different things on either side. And I've

3:04.9

been working through a bunch of different ideas. Still haven't arrived on something I'm going to repeat across all of them. I also don't know if I have to do each side the same. Like I feel like I could probably change it up a little bit. I feel like if I have a design though that's repeated, I should at least have it be the same color. And that's something that I've been working with where I think I mentioned last week,
