When I was a kid, I lived in an imaginary world.

Some of it was brokenness and some of it was just creativity.

I was an immigrant from El Salvador and I never knew my real

father. I have one vague memory of him and I'm not sure if it's a memory or something people

told me that I thought was a memory.

And I didn't know my mom.

My mom was just a teenage girl when she was pregnant with me and already had my brother and

she was in a violent abusive marriage and so when she was pregnant with

me she had to make some serious decisions and after my birth she fled to Miami Florida and my grandparents raised me for the first five years of my life.

So my grandma and my granddad were my mom and my dad, and my mom was a stewardess for Pan Am and I would wave to airplanes and I knew she was out there

but I didn't know who really she was. And then around the age of five she brought us
