Abel. On July 24, 1989, two male mountaineers became lost on Mount Asahi and Dizetsu-San National Park.

Dizetsu-San National Park was established in 1934 and is located on the island of Hokkaido in North Japan.

The park spans 875.54 square miles and is mountainous, with many of its peaks reaching over 6,600 feet.

It is so large it spans both the Kamikawa and Tokachi sub-prefectures.

Mount Asahi, an active stratovolcano, located near the town of Higashikawa, is not only the

main peak of the Dysetsuzon mountain range, but at an elevation of 7,516 feet, it is the highest peak

in Hokkaido.

Mount Asahi is a popular spot with climbers and tourists

alike, as it can be easily accessed via ropeway from a Hasahi Daki Anson for those looking for a

short day hike. Easy for you to say, Aaron, I would have not been able to traverse what you just

traversed right there. That was a lot going on.
