On New Year's Eve, 1999, a 21-year-old college student named Brian Wellesian left his apartment to celebrate with friends in downtown Chicago.

Three months later, his body washed up on the shores of Lake Michigan and Gary, Indiana, about 30 miles away. Investigators assumed Brian had gotten drunk,

fallen into the lake, and drowned. But his body showed minimal signs of decomposition,

strange, considering the police believed he'd been floating in the water for three months.
