Russ Vorhiz. We moved the smash this week to a special night because I was down in Tampa for

the stadium series and really the first day of the dead period on a Monday in February. Nothing's

going to happen, right? I mean, it's going to be a slow time. Boom, 9 a.m. It hits on Monday morning that Florida State is not going to have the offensive coordinator that we thought was going to be here. Ira, where were you when you heard the news and good evening, sir? Good, man. I was at home. I was getting ready to go, you know, it's what I do, buddy. I was going to play a little pickleball Monday morning and I thought I was getting ready to go out the door. I just posted a column by Corey Clark about Florida State basketball, Luke Lowkes. That didn't get a lot of traction because, yeah, just as soon as I posted that pretty much we got some text coming in from different

people about it yeah it was totally you know it wasn't so shocking that it happened you know

it's one of those things that I think your first reaction is like oh man this was something I

expected maybe a month ago or two months ago um so it wasn't like totally out of left field

just the timing of it was strange.

And then, yeah, man, we had to hop on the video. Thankfully, Jeff could pull over to Waffle House and we got it done. Thankfully, I was hurting, buddy, because that game was a classic. We were out late. It was a scheduled day off. I thought, hey, no problem here. And then, oh, no. So I think the Waffle House energy was very appropriate for the situation because it was at a left field.

In the grand scheme, it's not shocking, but the timing, the way it went down, that is just, it is at a left field.

You did say something earlier today, though, on headlines where you said,

I find that interesting, Ira, because the fact that it would be on the first day of the dead period

did cross my mind yesterday that, well, if you were going to do this it was almost like

an extension of years ago when bob stoop's retired at oklahoma he waited until lincoln

riley was the only guy that could be tabbed as a successor i i think that was very calculated on

bob's part to go through the off season and then you know stick oklahoma in a place of
