Qualcomm is jumping in on the quick charge trend.

Well, I mean, they've been doing quick charge for a while, but I mean like the super fast,

the next generation quick charge.

We reported on a couple of proprietary technologies from

Opo and others where they're going after some crazy quick charge figures.

However, those are typically limited

to the devices from those manufacturers

because they see it as a differentiating characteristic

and then that's like 1.25 watt

charge will be a selling feature for some upcoming flagship that they're going to

put out there. Qualcomm on the other hand, they're trying to create a standard around

something that manufacturers can adopt regardless of which manufacturer it is,

assuming they're using Qualcomm technology, so it is still some sort of proprietary thing

but they have the advantage they have an advantage in a sense that their technology

quick charge as it's called is backwards compatible.

So their version is zero to 50% battery in five minutes quick charge five

will also work with I mean if you scroll down to the graphic here quick charge four four plus three plus three three quick charge two now of

course it's not going to charge at the same rate that it would

if the device was quick charge 5 capable, but it's still at least you're getting some version of

quick charge on your older devices.

You see how that works well?

So there's an advantage to going to the quick charge route.
