Summary
Teenagers are overloaded, strapped for time and asked to wake far earlier than they should due to school start times. It’s no surprise that they are often sleep-deprived as a result...and with far-reaching consequences. Journalist Lisa Lewis joined us for a discussion about why our teens’ and tweens’ sleep schedules are so out of sync with our own and how we as parents can help make sure they are getting enough sleep. Lisa also explains how and why our kids go from waking up at 5:00am as children to sleeping in until the afternoon as teens. | 0:00.0 | I think this is a really big arguing point for parents because they get frustrated if their |
| 0:03.6 | kids aren't in bed. Is there a way to put them to bed if you keep their schedule in bed |
| 0:11.1 | at like 9.30 up at 7. Well, it just doesn't work because they're not tied. But if they |
| 0:17.6 | wake up earlier, like, can you change that cycle or no? |
| 0:23.8 | Hey guys, it is Monday and welcome to the CatNet unfiltered podcast. And this is a |
| 0:29.9 | special podcast because Nat and I started the common parent way back when because when |
| 0:35.2 | we had teenagers, we felt way over our head and like, no one was talking about it. Toddlers |
| 0:40.1 | and the younger ones, everyone had all the conversations and there was books. So the |
| 0:45.8 | common parent is a community that we created for members where they can go and listen to |
| 0:50.5 | amazing experts. Now, because we love our community so much, we wanted to bring over some |
| 0:55.4 | of the experts so you could hear little snippets of them. We bring you one a Monday. If |
| 1:00.9 | you're in the membership, you know that you get full access to them and you have a whole |
| 1:05.4 | bunch of library in there. So if you're new here, go check out the commonparent.com and |
| 1:10.7 | if you're not, you're going to take a listen to some of the experts that join us. Really, |
| 1:15.7 | it is about taking tools for your toolbox quick hits because a lot of us don't have time |
| 1:19.8 | for a lot of books and all the experts are so amazing that learning something that's |
| 1:25.1 | actionable that day is like, ah, the best. So this Monday, we hope you enjoy our expert |
| 1:30.8 | and just sit back. We know it can be overwhelming. We know it can feel like a lot but with the experts |
| 1:36.7 | and the community and us, we all can do this together. Take a listen to our next expert |
| 1:43.2 | right after this break. |
