Summary

They say “sleep is for the weak”, but you might have to think twice about that. Today, Alex (@AlexHormozi) talks about one of the most difficult habits that entrepreneurs can’t easily break: getting good sleep. That sounds crazy, but if you actually think about it the more sleep you get the more energy you can potentially have to drive more growth to your business.

Welcome to The Game Podcast where we talk about how to get more customers, make more profit per customer, and keep them longer, and the many failures and lessons we have learned along the way to $100M in sales. We've got roll-up-your-sleeves kind of hustle with a little bit of cleverness and a lot of heart.

Timestamps:

(1:04) - One of the hardest entrepreneurial habits that Alex has observed revolves around energy: how to maximize your output as an entrepreneur

(2:49) - Sleep, it is the one habit that can ultimately change and affect EVERYTHING in your life but it’s one of the hardest habits to consistently practice

(5:02) - The more you lack a good night’s sleep, you get fatter hungrier, dumber, slower, and so on. You end up having a low processing power which is what entrepreneurs need on the daily

(6:56) - Every entrepreneur that Alex knows who is super successful has dedicated time where they're uninterrupted every day (aka either they sleep late or wake up very early)

(8:59) - A game-changing habit Alex has put into practice is to allow himself to sleep as much as necessary & focus more on his bedtime. Once you’ve found the right formula for sleep, you will always have so much energy and clarity to think and make decisions

I wanted to bring up a habit that I think is central to being successful. And it's really,

0:44.3

really, really, really, really not sexy. And the more I think about it, there's so many other

0:49.9

pieces that flow into this single habit. And when I observe people who are doing better than I am

0:55.7

and whatnot, they usually have this really dialed in. And the reason that no one does it is because

1:02.8

it's so freaking hard. All right. And it all revolves around energy. And so what I mean by that is

how to maximize your output as an entrepreneur. At the end of the day, like all we have is ourselves.

1:15.9

And so that's why so many entrepreneurs are obsessed with increasing their personal throughput,

1:22.4

like how much they can produce. Right. You know, myself included in probably you. And a lot of us

1:27.7

started on this path and wanted to increase our output by, you know, getting in shape. And so when

1:32.8

we were younger or whatever, you know, whatever we had that moment in our lives, we were like, you know,

1:36.3

I'm going to start taking control of my life. I'm going to start controlling what I eat. I'm going

1:39.2

to start working out, drinking water, all that kind of stuff. Right. And I think that there are levels

to creating clear output. And so an easy example of this is like, if you've, if you've been on a,

1:50.8

you know, workout kick, right, for a while, or you've been training for a long time, if you ever stop
