Welcome to our Rosary Meditation.

St. Ignatius of Loyola said,

the greatest consolation he received was from gazing at the sky and the stars and the sea.

He did this often and for quite a long time.

Well, today I received a great consolation

from being alone with God,

hiking to the top of a mountain,

and then just sitting there,

gazing at the beauty he made for a long time.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son of the Holy Spirit.

It's called to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

We've been meditating on hope, and there are two sins that kill hope, despair and presumption.

Presumption means thinking of heaven as automatic. despair and presumption.

Presumption means thinking of heaven as automatic.

An incredible number of Christians have somehow diluted themselves into thinking that they and everyone they care about

is somehow guaranteed to get into heaven.

We see this a lot at funerals.

Instead of praying for the soul of the deceased, we just assume they're in heaven right now.

We get the idea that God just gives everybody a pass for all the selfishness, all the neglect, the wasted life,

and all the vices they showed.

And we do this largely because it makes us feel totally secure about our own prospects.
