kingdom series. We're in chapter number 12, so to speak, looking at the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 7.

So get out your Bibles, and we're going to dig into that in just a moment.

But I always feel like before we get into the reading of Scripture, we need to ask God to help us understand the Scripture.

So would you join me as we pray? Father, we simply

want you to be our teacher. We ask you to open our minds and hearts to understand your word and to

apply rightly to our own lives. We ask it in Jesus' name. Amen. Okay, friends, now I have to warn you

a little bit ahead of time. The passage we're

going to read has caused a lot of consternation and fear for many people over the years. And I think

when I read it, you're going to understand why. But we're going to back off from that fear. Okay,

we're going to choose right now to not be afraid of the Word of God. And instead, listen to it

carefully. And if it gives us a warning to heed that warning and add it to the way we live. So let's read.

In Matthew 7, 21 through 23, Jesus is speaking. He says, not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven,

but the one who does the will of my father who is in heaven.
