It is Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, the government shutdown should end today. What's next? Number two, the Clint cut a deal with house republicans to stave off a

contempt vote and number three virginia fighting muddies redistricting let's get into it well the shutdown

we hardly knew ye or something i guess um government shutdown which is a partial government

shutdown although a big one, this is like

70-something percent of the government, is likely to end at some point today.

The House is going to take up legislation to fund critical departments like defense, state,

health and human services, transportation, and others until the end of the fiscal year, and

DHS funding until next week.

Again, next week, this is 10 days away the next funding deadline.

We'll get into that in a second.

Donald Trump was able to convince Anna Paulina Luna and Tim Burchett to drop their blockade

of the funding bill.

They wanted to attach a voter ID provision to the funding bill, and that was

never going to work. The White House realized that, and they cleared out that objection after a meeting

at the White House. This should, and I'll stress, it should, should, should allow the chamber to

adopt a rule and then get on to voting on the funding package.
