I think I'm going to make a little progress tonight, but I'm not promising anything

by way of trying to get to maybe the front portion of Galatians for eventually, but right now I want to stay

starting here in verse 21, and then again,

we'll just see how far we make it before the evening is through.

You can cool off a little bit, and then we'll make Joelle and the team do some more

of that maybe here at the end.

So chapter 4, beginning in verse 21 of Galatians 4, this should be hyper familiar to us by now, but it's really good.

Tell me, do you want to go back to living strictly by the law?

Have you ever listened to what the law really says?

Have you forgotten that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave girl and the other by the free woman?

Ishmael, the son of the slave girl, was a child of the natural realm, but Isaac the son of the free woman was born

supernaturally by the spirit a child of the promise of God. These two

women and their sons, the two women and their sons express an allegory and become symbols of two covenants.

Why is it important to emphasize the two women and their sons?

Because we're learning that people represent places.

So in learning that people represent places,

we have to also understand that their offspring

becomes a representation of both person and place.
