A man whose spouse would ultimately be his downfall and lead to his arrest because she was unwilling to keep his secret and instead saved herself from execution.

On January 12, 1974, a man named Roger Dale Stafford, born November 4, 1951, walked into a McDonald's restaurant in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, went straight up to

the assistant manager, and pulled out his gun. He proceeded to shoot 21-year-old University

of North Alabama student, Jimmy Earl Berry, a total of four times before rushing over to the

register and taking just over $1,300 in cash and fleeing.

The case, unfortunately, would remain unsolved for a total of four years, meaning Roger Stafford

had time to add to his victim list and turned from a spree killer to a full-blown serial killer.
