You know, whatever else is happening around the country or around the globe,

there's only one big story in Washington, D.C. these days, and that, of course, is the Senate trial of Donald

J. Trump. It's only the third time in our history that the Senate has met to decide whether

or not to convict the President and remove him from office, and maybe even to disallow him

from ever running for office again. For younger Americans, of course, it's a whole new experience.

But for some veteran reporters who covered the trial of Bill Clinton back in 1999,

it is in the immortal words of Yogi Berra deja vu all over again. We sat down this week with one of Washington's best-known reporters,

authors, and commentators to discuss the differences and the similarities between the Trump

trial and the Clinton trial. Eleanor Clift, former White House correspondent and contributing

editor of Newsweek and longtime panelists on the McLaughlin Group,

is now a columnist and correspondent for The Daily Beast.

Let's just break into the breaking news, which is former national security advisor John Bolton, according to the New York Times, the manuscript yet unpublished for his new book says that the president told him directly he wanted to hold up the military funding for Ukraine until Ukraine and unless Ukraine

announced these investigations.

How significant is this, do you think, and do you think it could change the course of

the Senate trial?

I think it makes it harder for the Republican senators to say we're not going to hear

from any witnesses. When Bolton has all

but asked to appear, he's sent his manuscript to the White House, and apparently nowhere else,
