When I was younger, I used to take the 60 bus from Pacific Boulevard to downtown LA.

I remember looking out the window and watching the shops on Pacific Boulevard, trying

to have factories in Vernon.

And then we'd finally get to the big old buildings in downtown, like the LA Central Library.

You can tell a lot about a city from inside a bus, because you're not driving.

You're a passenger.

So you get to look at everything as it goes by.

You're going slow.

But you can still cover a lot of ground, miles and miles of a city.

Nancy Messa remembers taking the bus downtown too.

I think that's the biggest thing around the 720, just really seeing more hotels, more

bars, more police.

When she first noticed downtown changing, she watched it happen from the 720 bus.

Like just seeing along the 720, just way rapid development, like every single day.

And just thinking how fast it moved, right?

Because the biggest, I think, shock for me was when Whole Foods came into downtown because

my family lived in downtown and there were no grocery stores anywhere in sight.

I would take the bus back and there was a new hotel, right or a new loft or a new bar.
