The selfless father.

And this is going to bless you fathers in here.

We're going to be coming out of Luke 15 and 11.

Y'all know this story, but we usually read this story thinking about the son. But the story's

not about the son. The story's about the father. Luke 15 and 11. And he said a certain man,

Jesus said, a certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father father give me the portion of goods that falleth to me and he divided unto them his living and not many days after the younger son gathered all together and took his journey into a far country and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

And when he came to himself, he said, how many hired servants of my father have bread

enough and to spare? And I perish with hunger. I'm sitting here starving and the servants have

enough. So I will arise and go to my father and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against

heaven and before thee.

And am no more worthy to be called thy son.

Make me as one of thy hired servants.

But the father said to his servants, bring forth the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet, and bring hither the fattieth calf and kill it and let us eat and be merry.

For this my son was dead and he is alive again. He was lost and is found. And they began

to be married. And of course, you know the rest of the story, the older son got a little heated.

And he was trying to figure out, you know, why are you doing all this for him?

And he left and I stayed here. And what he didn't realize was because he was the first born son,

the inheritance was his anyway. So the father told him, said, all I have is yours anyway. You're getting everything anyway.

So don't worry about what I'm doing for this one because you're already blessed because you're the first born son. That's what we are when we come to Christ with God's first born son. We're Israel. Y'all know that. Okay. So it's the exact same thing. But what we're talking about here is this father. Some things about this father that just stood out to me when I read this. And the first thing is he he had stuff so when his sons came to him and

asked him for their inheritance he's like okay here then when the son came back after squandering all

of it the father still had plenty so this tells me that the father was a pretty good provider amen
