I have a mentor who has been telling me that I have the spirit of Gideon.

I don't think he meant it as a good thing. I began to feel very bothered that I have things in common with Gideon. Because the things that I have in common with him are seeds that can turn into destruction. None of the proof points eliminate his fear. Seeing an angel doesn't fix it. God doing two miracles back to back doesn't fix it. Gideon wins the battle and they're like, become king. You should be king. And he's like, no, no, I won't be king. The Lord is your king. And then he names his son, my father is king. He wants the fruit of the title, but not the accountability or responsibility of the title. You see me in this too? They spread out a cloak. They put all their earrings on it. Gideon made an apod from all of this and put it in his hometown and then all Israel prostituted themselves and worshipped it there. And it became a snare to Gideon in his household. God would rather you wrestle with him than of him walk up and try to find you and he can't find you. Just because God will

reason with me doesn't mean that it's always a good idea to force him to explain or prove himself.

Hey, before you get into this one, we're talking about Gideon. And I just want to let you know,

a couple things. First, if you just want to get into the dense meat and potatoes it's

about 30 minutes in so we spend about 30 minutes talking about some current events and

viewpoints and just things we're messing with on the show um but once you do get into the actual

content we're not going to talk about gideon the way that anyone else I think in the world has

talked about Gideon.

You need to know that when I read the Bible and when I pray through the Bible and when

I'm trying to understand what God's trying to communicate with what he chooses to put

in the Bible.

I'm always trying to ask questions about how does this actually relate?

How does this apply to me, to my situation, to your situation?

And Gideon is a case study of what happens when we rely on proof that God is who he says he is

rather than faith in God's intentions.

And as is our MO at this point, we don't teach on any of this from the standpoint of like,

well, this person is perfect, but really Gideon is someone who's like the lessons we can

pull from this guy's life apply to anyone who believes in God at this point.

Anyone who has ever tried to barter with God, anyone who has ever tried to barter with god anyone who has ever felt like they don't believe that god actually cares about them

and it's a little bit heavy especially the way it ends if you get to the end of it it's kind of like

we don't have anywhere to there's there's no escape there's no relief it's just like all right let's let's pray um
