having me. Brett, welcome to the Action Academy, man. I'll allow you to introduce yourself to the audience.

Yeah, hey, everybody. My name's Brett Swartz and founder Capital Gains Tax Solutions. And we were just really

passionate about helping people unlock freedom when they're selling highly appreciated assets.

But it didn't always go that way.

When starting out, I didn't really know how to do a lot of these exit planning strategies beyond just the 1031 exchange.

And in fact, it started out at a young age, just helping my parents build real estate in California, mostly in the Bay Area.

And then moved up to Sacramento, studying and

practice multifamily brokers at a place called Marcus and Milichap. And everything was going

really good until the 08 crash. I started in 06. And then the 08 crash happened and our clients,

friends and family lost a lot of wealth. And then my wife and I at the time, just barely married,

could barely make it. We're making like next to

zero. I commissioned only real estate. And so went to from selling and sleighing cheesecake at that

point, if I were from selling real estate to try to sell some cheesecake. And at Cheesecake Factory,

became a server nights and weekends. And my day, I negotiate with banks and help my clients work

through one of the hardest hit markets in the history of real estate. But I learned a lot during those times of what

was really important to me and how I could serve an invest. Sometimes you're going through the storm

and you don't know that it's preparing you to help other people through future storms. And that was

our storm for two years. We lived my brother in a small condo, work 67 or weeks. I'd be ducking out on the side

of a cheesecake factory when I saw a potential client that was trying to list a property on the other

room. I always start there because you might be going through something similar, right? And you're

wondering, hey, what's the other end of this thing? I'm going to hire you, I don't want you to close a deal for $50,000 and walk away.
