Good morning. I'm Anna Palmer. And I'm Jake Sherman. And welcome to The Daily Punch. Brought to you by Punchable News. It's Tuesday, September 17th, 2024. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, what's next with the Secret Service?

Number two, the Senate Dems look to take on IVF legislation. And number three, the latest segment of the future of defense aviation. All right, Jake, let's get into it. Congress is grappling

with what to do next with the Secret Service following the most recent and second attempt on

former President Donald Trump's life. This is complicating this latest funding bill as Congress

not only looks to figure out, you know, do they need new leadership? But also there's a big plug by the Secret Service that they are strapped for funds and they

actually need more money.

Yeah.

So interestingly, the Secret Service started making the case privately last week, I believe,

or even before that, before the second attempt

on Donald Trump's life, that they were squeezed for cash. They brought this up in a task

force meeting, the bipartisan House task force that Mike Johnson created.

And they were told, the Secret Service was told, that it was neither the time nor the place for such a request.

Obviously, the task force is not an authorizing committee.

So they don't have the ability to do such a thing as get more money for the Secret

Service. I understand why they'd make the case because you need allies, but neither here nor there.

So listen, it is not politically palatable for the Secret Service to request cash and not get it,

especially after Donald Trump's two attempts on Donald Trump's life.
