So the easiest way is that an integral emotion is an emotion that's relevant to the decision at hand.

So you're looking at option A or B. The idea of taking option B fills you with regret.

That's an important signal and those

emotions the ones that are relevant to the decision usually last for days so if you're

thinking about a decision and you keep feeling regret when you think about it's

So an example of that is I'm driving to work, I get stuck in

going to be frustrated and mad and I'm going to make worse decisions if I don't

understand that that anger or that frustration is affecting the way that I see the world.

And that will pass, like in the afternoon

I'll probably have eaten lunch, calm down.

And then when I go back to make a decision,

I probably won't be so frustrated.

So that's definitely an incidental or irrelevant emotion.
