1790s. John Adams when he passed the Alien Sedition Acts, which the Supreme Court did not strike down but frankly they should have

they expired on March 4th 1800 the day that John Adams left office and

Thomas Jefferson became president.

Was essentially trying to rewrite the Constitution.

I mean, conservatives ever since then have found things in the Constitution that

they just don't like you know they

for example the First Amendment freedom of the press they would very much like

politicians these right-wing politicians would very much like to be able to sue

people like me and frankly even regular

news organizations who say things that they don't like.

Sue them for slander, cost them a fortune, whether it's true or or not whether you're going to win in

court or not it doesn't matter just put them out of business and the ability to

do that is you know it's not provided by our Constitution but that's that's how Hungary that's how Victor

Orbon took over the media in Hungary. He changed the laws so that

politicians could sue media organizations for unfair reporting and then they started these lawsuits

and it put them all out of business and they got bought up out of bankruptcy by Orban's friends

and now all the media and Hungary sucks up to Orban continuously.

This is one of the things that they want to do here.
