expecting to feel as sad as I do about the passing of John Prescott. But having, the thing that struck me is just how recent

it all is and how great they all were. I think that's right. And he was so important to it,

wasn't he? Before we talk about, should we have a blast of his famous speech at the, I think it was a 1993 Labour conference defending John Smith's

reform of the selection of parliamentary candidates.

And the union blocked vote.

There's no doubt this man our leader put his head on the block by saying basically,

I fervently believe because that's what he believes, of a relationship

and a strong one with the trade unions and the Labour Party. He's put his head there. Now's our

time to vote. Give us a bit of trust and let's have this vote support.

Now, when you read a transcript of that, it's complete gibberish. Yeah. But it was so powerful and so passionate that it swung the vote.

And that's what Blair said on the radio this morning was that he wasn't the most articulate.
