verse 32. Jesus knew how he would leave, and he knew when he would leave,

and he knows how he will return, but he doesn't know when he will return. Now, if we find ourselves perplexed by this,

let's just be honest that the disciples themselves were perplexed by this. In Luke chapter 19,

and you don't need to turn to it, after Jesus has visited the home of Zekees, and this divine

visitation has taken place, and Jesus has concluded that little

piece by saying, the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. It's a summary statement

about his first Advent. Why did he come? To seek and to save the lost. Immediately, this is the response to the disciples.

As they heard these things, he proceeded to tell them a parable because he was near to Jerusalem

and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately. And then he tells them the story about the nobleman who

went away into a far country, the same story that is basically summarized for us here in Mark.

When you get to the apostles, even after the resurrection of Jesus, and in the prospect of the

ascension of Jesus, what do you find? You find that they are still not clear in their minds.

They ask Jesus, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel? They still can't
