And the case I'm going to share with you today takes place in the Padre Island National Seashore in Texas.

This landscape is more than 130,000 acres in stretches for about 70 miles towards the United States' southern border with Mexico.

According to the National Park Service, it's known for being one of

the last intact coastal prairie habitats in the country. You can fish, birdwatch, beachcomb, camp,

and even see turtle hatchling releases happen in real time if you're at the right spot.

The park itself was established in 1962, and historians have confirmed that everyone from cattle ranchers to Native Americans to Spanish explorers traverse these beaches.

In 2024, more than 514,000 people visited the national seashore, and nearly 46,000 of those folks were designated as overnight campers.

The majority of those guests stayed in RVs because, yeah, who wouldn't want to be right on the beach in the comfort of their own travel trailer.

In the fall of 2019, that's exactly what the two victims in this case had in mind.

But little did they know a violent human predator and his companion were lurking in the
