The Bible tells us that God has sealed his believers with the Holy Spirit of promise.

Today, Don Drevans takes a look at what being sealed by God's Spirit means and how we can go about experiencing the benefits of that sealing.

Let's join him as he begins.

I want to talk to you today about the name of the Holy Spirit, the seal.

In Ephesians 1, verses 13 and 14, we read these words in him.

You also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, having also believed you are sealed in him with the Holy Spirit of promise.

You were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.

Verse 14, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance with a view to the redemption of God's own possession to the praise of his glory.

Verse 13 calls the Holy Spirit the seal.

Now, there are three concepts tied to the sealing presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer.

One is that guarantee security.

Two, it establishes ownership.

And three, it is reflective of authority.

Security, ownership, and authority.

When a person is born into a family, that biological connection can never be undone because it's a birth issue.

When you are born again, that spiritual connection can never be undone.

I love the way that Paul talks about this permanency in the book of Romans, chapter 8, when he asks the question in verse 35,

who will separate us from the love of Christ? And then he asks about tribulation, distress, persecution, and famine, nakedness, pearl, or sword.
