Today, I want to talk about two approaches to life that you can have and the one that

I think we should all strive for.

So the first approach is what I call the lottery ticket and the second approach is the sculpture.

So think about yourself and how you see the media portraying success, right?

You see something like what just happened in the news, what's app?

These two guys, they get fired from a few companies, they decide to go out on their own,

they build an app, five years later, they sell it for $19 billion and I think they own

something like 60%.

So they made $3, $4, $5 billion a piece, right?

So that's like the lottery ticket.

These guys weren't necessarily setting out since childhood to solve the problem of texting.

They just saw an opportunity and fell into it and boom, they're billionaires, right?

The media always tells those stories and there's something called media bias, which means

the things we see on the news, we naturally tend to believe are the normal pattern.

For example, I wrote an article recently, most people when they go in the ocean are afraid

of shark attack, but they don't realize statistically you're much more likely to get killed by a piece

of an airplane falling out of the sky and hitting you on the head when you're out in the

ocean than actually a shark attacking you.

But the news never reports on something simple like a piece of metal falling out of the sky,

they love shark attacks.

So for the same reason, most of us have grown up thinking that the way we're going to become

successful is with some kind of quote unquote lottery ticket idea like WhatsApp or you
