On a quiet stretch of rural road in Pendleton, South Carolina, a woman walked into her mother's home and flipped on the light. What she saw inside was one of the most brutal crime scenes the county had ever seen. Four members of the same family were found dead inside the house. Eight years later, investigators would finally come back with an answer that would turn the

entire story upside down.

So I'm going to go with no one's ever going to figure it out. I know. I might be here until the next,

the next daylight savings time or whatever the opposite is. Daylight losing time. I don't know.

So on November 2nd, 2015, deputies with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office were sent to a home on refuge road near Pendleton, South Carolina, after what was initially reported as a burglary was called in.

But when they got there, this wasn't a break-in scene. It was a massacre. Inside the home,

deputies found four members of the same family dead. At first, authorities said all four had

been shot to death, but investigators would later learn the violence had been even more

brutal than that initial description had suggested. Investigators believe the murders happened

sometime between Halloween afternoon and the following afternoon when a family member stopped

by the house and got no answer. One small detail helped narrow the timeline a little bit,

and that was that a bowl of Halloween candy was sitting untouched by the front door, which led investigators to believe that the killings may have taken place on October 31st, which is really creepy and horrific if you think about people moving about the neighborhood, kids are out trick-or-treating, knocking on doors, and at that point

there could have been four people dead inside of this home already. And the crime scene itself was just
