Hello and welcome to the Naked Scientists with Ben Valzter and Diana O' Carroll.

This week is the last of our summer special shows

where we bring you some of the finest science from all over the world.

We're sitting in for Chris and Co for the last time

because they'll be back next week. So today we're going deep underwater for a roundup of

some marine science. We'll be finding out what corals can teach us about history, how traw fishing can permanently

alter the seabed, and how female hormones in the water are feminizing fish.

So what I mean when I say feminized is that these males were starting to produce

egg proteins and in the more severe cases they were developing eggs.

We'll also find out why ponds are good for locking away carbon and how you can use a penguin's distinctive

chest feathers to tell its life story.

African penguins carry a spot pattern on their chest and like humans have unique fingerprints,

African penguins have unique

unique chess prints so we can tell which penguin is where when.

And in kitchen science at Ben and Dave will be testing out their chocolate

teapot to see if they're really as useless as people say.
