Summary

In this episode of Skin Anarchy, Dr. Ekta Yadav sits down with Jordan Harper, board-certified nurse practitioner and founder of Barefaced, to explore the movement toward simplicity, integrity, and long-term skin health. With nearly a decade in aesthetic medicine, Harper brings a refreshing, clinically grounded perspective to a beauty landscape overwhelmed by trends, noise, and overcomplicated routines.

Harper shares how her early career in the ICU shaped her detail-oriented, problem-solving mindset — and how she carried that discipline into aesthetics. What she noticed immediately was a disconnect: patients would invest heavily in treatments but neglect the daily routine that actually sustains results. That realization became the foundation of Barefaced’s “less but better” philosophy, anchored by her Core Four essentials: exfoliant, vitamin C, retinoid, and SPF.

Throughout the conversation, Harper reframes skincare as prevention, not correction — a longevity-based approach that prioritizes the barrier, cellular health, and consistency over quick fixes. She also dives into the meaning of true “medical grade”: thoughtful formulations, meaningful concentrations, and uncompromising standards. It’s the reason she once pulled a product at a $200,000 loss — integrity outweighs profit.

From the cult-favorite Toning Pads that sparked the brand’s cult following to Barefaced’s commitment to education and honest guidance, Harper emphasizes serving the consumer, not selling to them.

Tune in to hear how Jordan Harper is redefining modern skincare through clinical rigor, simplicity, and unwavering authenticity — and why the future of skin health is built on foundations, not fads.

Hey guys, welcome back to Skin Anarchy. Today's episode is very special because we are going to be interviewing somebody who is the founder of a wonderful brand that I've been loving recently.

And I think it's really important to talk about products that are truly efficacious, but more importantly to kind of spotlight people who get it, that skincare is not one and done.

0:18.4

And it needs to be made to be flexible and usable by everybody. So without

0:22.8

further ado, I want to introduce you guys to Jordan Harper, who is a board certified nurse

practitioner, and she is the founder and CEO of Barefaced. Welcome, Jordan. I'm so excited to host you.

0:31.4

Thank you. Excited to be here. Yeah, I want to dive in. Start at the beginning, if you don't mind.

0:36.5

I mean, you spent nearly a decade in aesthetic medicine. What was that turning point that made you realize, you know, the skincare industry needed something simpler?

0:44.9

So it's interesting. I look back. I never planned on having a skincare line. That's something, it's so funny how life, if you just keep looking for opportunities,

0:54.4

things evolve. And I'm so proud of what bareface is today. But before bareface was ever anything,

1:00.2

I was treating patients in office for injectables like fillers and Botox and laser treatments and

1:05.7

skin concerns. And what I saw time and time again, let me just say this. Before that, I was working in the ICU for

1:13.4

several years. And I think that helped me to really become a good problem solver. Obviously,

1:19.4

the problems were high pressure in the ICU, transition that into an office setting, treating

1:24.8

skin care and skin issues, a lot less pressure, but a lot of

1:30.0

vulnerability that patients express and they're coming in with some of the things that they're

1:34.4

most uncomfortable with and sharing that with you. And I saw time and time again, thousands of

1:41.5

patients ready and willing to invest in office treatments, whether that

1:45.7

be injectables, laser treatments, what have you, surgery even, but they weren't using consistent

1:52.3

skincare. And what I compare that to is like going to the dentist. You can go to the dentist

1:58.1

twice a year, but if you do not brush your teeth morning and

2:00.9

night every single day, like, what do you think your oral health is going to be like? Not great.

2:06.9

The same thing applies to the skin. And I approach, I would say I approach pretty much every
