As a child,

as a child, I frequented to Kmart on Vermont and Slausen in South Central Los Angeles.

Often accompanied by my grandmother on our walks from Broadway in Slausen, since we lacked a

car at the time.

I reminisce those countless walks we did, smelling the rubber from the tire shop,

catching wiffs of those greasy and tasty tamsburgers and fries.

But our destination was unmistakable.

The store that adorned the iconic big Red Kaye.

Kmart Surthas are neighborhoods equivalent to a target.

And every time we'd go, I eagerly rush to the video game section, losing track of time playing whatever system they had in the store until my grandmother would drag me away.

However, unbunuchs to me, there was an eerie secret lurking within those walls.

For those familiar with South Central, a Ross and a Dede's Discount store

now occupy the place where this Kmart used to stand,

which was there for as long as I could remember.

But going even more back in time, prior to it being a Kmart, the place was called Zodys.

And that's where a tragic event left a lingering, haunting presence.

Legend has it that when the story used to be a zodys,

a tragic double murder suicide unfolded in the upstairs stockroom involving a couple who are employees of Zodes. Allegedly, the boyfriend discovered that his

girlfriend who also worked at the store cheated on him with another male

co-worker, leading to a violent outburst where he used a box cutter to fatally wound them both before taking his own life by slashing his wrist.

It said that the spirits of all three individuals now haunt the premises.

Employees of Zodes would claim to have witnessed a man wandering the stockroom and a woman running around the store with occasional screams heard echoing throughout the halls.
