And, despite his great success, was in an unhappy relationship that, depending on who you believe, may have cost him his life.

Vladimir Peter Savage Jr. was born on January 10th, 1945, and from the time he was born,

earned himself the nickname Spider after being born prematurely and with long, quote, spindly arms and legs.

Proudly supporting the name for the rest of his life, Spider's father, a California Highway Patrol officer, was extremely involved with him, his brother, and his sister.

Often being seen dropping the Savage brothers off at the mountains

in his patrol car so the boys could spend their day skiing. Their love for the sport first

began at the Adelvese Resort and Spider in particular proved himself to be a natural on the snow.

Both savage boys were known to serve as altar boys at the Catholic Church right across the highway from the skiing area.
