Welcome to the Jesus Image podcast.

Okay, last Sunday morning, we touched on Jesus, our light.

Jesus, the light.

And that's a very, let's pray, Holy Spirit, open our eyes because we dare not enter the garden of your word without asking you the divine gardener to teach us.

You are the teacher.

And this book, this Holy Scripture, is locked unless you open it.

So heal us of our blindness now and show us Jesus.

Amen.

This is a very real light we're talking about.

This isn't just metaphorical or parabolic. John is connecting the Lord Jesus himself to the light of God in the old covenant. This is so powerful. So he connects the Lord

Jesus, for example, to the light of creation, which, by the way,

precedes the mentioning of the sun and the moon.

In Genesis 1.3, when the Lord says, let there be light, I would just invite you to study

that.

Much deeper truth there being shared with us than this is the creation of a star or a moon.

John the beloved is connecting Jesus as light to being the light flowing from the burning

bush.

Same light. He's connecting Jesus as light to Exodus 13

when we see the pillar of fire

we know that the Lord Jesus is manifesting himself

there in that cloud that pillar of fire

and himself there in that cloud, that pillar of fire.
