Hello and welcome to Political Thinking.

The Queen has expressed her hope that these platinum-dubly celebrations are an opportunity

for the country to come together once again, to focus on what unites us and not what divides

us.

My guest on the programme has spent many years worrying though about precisely what divides

us, about what promotes extremism in our country and in our communities.

She is Dame Sarah Khan, she's the government's independent adviser for social cohesion and

resilience.

Before that she was the country's first counter-extremism commissioner.

Born and raised in Bradford to pack his d'annies parents, she once said there is something

going horribly wrong within Muslim communities and we need to have an open and honest debate

about that.

These words want a praise from some but criticism from others who dislike the idea that she

was somehow fueling rather than countering the idea that many Muslims are in some way hostile

to their country and its values.
